It is deemed that Köroğlu lived in the 16th century and he is accepted as an epic hero famous for his equality, justice and personality supporting the poor people. Although there is no proven information about the date of birth, it is known that she lives in and around Bolu. The first information about Köroğlu depends on the Book of Travels of Evliya Çelebi. Köroğlu is a great factor not only in the sense of literature but also in the development of Turkish music by writing folk songs and in the creation of new works in this period. Köroğlu lived in Bolu during the 3rd Murat period and became legendary with the struggle she opposed the Bolu Bey.
Köroğlu’nun 16. yüzyılda yaşadığı kabul edilmekte ve eşitliği, adaleti ve yoksullara yardım eden kişiliği ile ünlü bir destan kahramanı olarak kabul edilmektedir. Doğum tarihi hakkında kesin bir bilgi bulunmamakla birlikte Bolu ve çevresinde yaşadığı bilinmektedir. Köroğlu hakkında ilk bilgiler Evliya Çelebi’nin Seyahatnamesine dayanmaktadır. Köroğlu, sadece edebiyat anlamında değil, türküler yazarak Türk müziğinin gelişmesinde ve bu dönemde yeni eserlerin ortaya çıkmasında büyük etkendir. 3. Murat döneminde Bolu’da yaşayan Köroğlu, Bolu Bey’e karşı verdiği mücadeleyle dillere destan oldu.
